Laura Gardner-Wedge


Laura qualified with an MSc Physiotherapy degree from the University of Birmingham, having previously attained a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science. Laura has since worked in both private clinics and NHS hospitals in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Avon mostly in musculoskeletal out-patients and also in orthopaedic in-patient services. Laura has a particular interest in the upper limb and, as a member of the British Association of Hand Therapists, has a specialism in hand therapy.

Laura has worked with elite sportsmen and women, and as part of a team, provides physiotherapy services for the Lawn Tennis Association at international professional tournaments held in Great Britain. Laura is a registered tennis coach and holds her Lawn Tennis Association Club Coach Award (CCA). The LTA has supported her to develop skills on technical analysis, the biomechanics of tennis players and sports specific screening of young tennis players to compliment her role as a physiotherapist.

She is a Certified Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) Pilates Matwork Instructor and a member of the APPI. She has also completed kinesio-taping level 1 and 2 through the Kinesio Taping Association.

Mark qualified with an MSc Physiotherapy degree from the University of Birmingham, having previously attained a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

Since qualifying, Mark has worked in both private and NHS musculoskeletal outpatient settings, both locally and in Lancashire.

He has treated a wide range of patients from members of the public to both national and international sports people. Mark has a particular interest in the lower limb and rehabilitation of knee injuries.

Esther Verlaque

ITEC Level 4 Certificate

Esther is our new sports massage therapist.

Esther has recently passed her level 4 sports massage therapy course (ITEC) at St Mary’s University, although she has been working in sports massage for 2 years since passing her level 3 sports massage qualification. She also has a background as a professional dancer. Esther gained BPA Honours Degree in Contemporary Dance and uses this experience to impart knowledge and advice to her clients. She is comitted to understanding your needs and catering your massage to help relieve tension and stress, as well as facilitating recovery from sporting or other musculoskeletal injuries, with deep massage techniques to break down scar tissue, stretches, suggested exercises and home care advice to speed up the healing process and restore function and elasticity in the muscles. Sport massage is ideal for helping sore or fatigued muscles recuperate, particularly following periods of intense exercise, injury rehabilitation, or when the body has been suffering from general stress or tightness due to bad posture, desk work, manual labour, childcare and several other things from your daily life. Esther aims to use sport massage to help ease muscles but also increase your awareness of your body, posture and areas of muscular imbalance or weakness so that together you can make progress and see results.
